Cancer and the future

Hey everybody!

2017 has been a crazy year, and I haven’t posted anything in far too long. The last post was over 300 days ago, and I’ve lost a lot of the passion I once had for my various projects. To make matters worse, I’ve been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form a blood cancer that I’m currently getting treated. I try to keep my personal life separate from this blog, but a bit of context can be useful, especially with something life-threatening like cancer.

Mentally, I’m trapped within this conflicted state where I need to finish the things I’ve started, but simultaneously feel like moving on entirely so that I’m not wasting time and can do the things I enjoy.

And I’m going to do the things I enjoy.

This means that Galacticats is going on haitus (for now). I don’t want to see it get abandoned like David Kent, but every time I try to get back into it I struggle to get any work done. It’s just not productive at the moment, so I’m putting it on the back burner.

It also means you’ll be seeing more smaller projects and things. I’m going to try to keep posting here for my own sanity, and my goal is to go into more detail about the technical side of development - both to keep a good record of my achievements, and act as a resource to other devs.

Hopefully this all works out for the best.
